It is an ideal alternative to non-recyclable bags made of plastic that decomposes for up to 400 years. The disposable nature of the plastic bags results in contamination of the oceans and groundwater. Plain brown bags are universal. They can be recycled, and using them reduces the amount of waste generated thanks to the possibility of using them multiple times (e.g. as breakfast bags, shopping bags, for storing and carrying items, and at the end of their journey as a bag for waste paper).
